Sleeping next to him and waking up next to him. A really cuddly night. It was really nice.

The explanation for why my birthday card was late from my brother. That damn racoon is always causing trouble…

A day of cleaning and sorting and putting up photos. It felt semi productive. It’s a good starting point at least.

Presents, cooking together, all the food, Jane and Tony coming over, all the cheers-ing, chatting to Stuart on the phone, my new DMs, Stick Man, skyping with the Fems, sitting in front of the fire, playing with Alexa, a feminist book from my brother, Alec’s weird melting video, playing the piano, Soph getting the body mop, Snapchat and naming a gravy boat after Stuart.

A day of cooking all together. I made vulva mince pies. Obvs.

Pizza oven pizzas for Christmas Eve dinner. Sitting out by the fire with dad and Ben was lovely.

Reminiscing about nan at dinner. Her terrible driving, her sneaky cigarettes and her penis chats. And watching Ben laugh so hard about wing mirrors.

Being all together as a family, having lunch in the garden for the last time.

Watching Ben laugh so hard retelling the new Dad’s Army film that he cried.

Coming back to Lauren. And my garden smells. Someone who can commiserate with me and a nice place to sit before the week starts again.

A beautiful walk in the park with the kids. And playing in the park, swinging in the storm swing.

Painting the fence with my brother. Having all the conversations and talking about all the things. It was perfect.

Then watching Moana and drinking beer with him.

“Are you laughing at ‘otter’?”

Knuffle with Jen.

Crashing my brother’s band practise. Sitting outside the shed he built, listening to him play, drinking a beer. What a perfect evening.

When the sun came out in the garden

Being all together at Ben and Hannah’s

Hearing his band play

Driving! And singing as loudly as I wanted to.

Helping Ben and Han clean the house before Christmas. Scrubbing stairs with toothbrushes, using the water Hoover and admiring Ben’s amazing work on the flooring.

Singing Christmas carols with nan. And her reaction to Ben. Plus I understood her today. She talked right to me. And her ‘steady on!’ to mum sounded just like the nan from my childhood.

Slept in until 12. Oh, sweet sweet sleep.

Going in the hot tub, in the sunny garden with the birds tweeting. And the beautiful smelling air. Then having breakfast at lunch time at the bottom.of the garden.

Dinner at Ben and Hannah’s. Lolz and the amazing shed. I love going to see them.

Mum and dad’s 40th wedding anniversary garden party. I love big family parties.

Eating all five of the deserts.

Making Ben properly laugh with the Spiderman/Batman comment.

Cheese. So much cheese.
Seeing my hub for the first time. It’s exciting. Plus I got to stand around chatting in the sun for a while and miss hours of sitting at a desk.
James reminds me of my brother. It’s nice to be around that.

My brother’s motivational speech to his wife.
Discovering how to put paragraphs into texts on my phone.
‘Stop spraying sperm around with abandon’ Lucy Mangan, Stylist.

My brother sent me a photo of me in Look magazine. I’d forgotten about that!
Showing Ani the octopus video.
A beer and an avocado when I got home.

Rupe and Jim came round.
A big family night with my brother, his wife, her parents, my parents and W. So lovely.
Seeing photos of my dad when he was younger and he looks EXACTLY like my brother. It’s freaky.

Going for a morning walk around the coast and discovering more and more beautiful, empty coves and bays with clear water and soft sand.
Family time on the beach, teasing Hannah.
Zapping my brothers bites. And also his arm, foot and tummy. Just for fun.

This teeny tiny grater.
Lake Cave. Totally amazing.
Spending time with my brother and his wife. We haven’t spent this much time together in years.

My family arrived! I haven’t seen my brother and his wife for 18 months and my parents for 9. It was a pretty excited reunion.
Hanging out and just chatting sand laughing with my family. It’s so nice to all be together again.
The awesome tree house next door.

My brother doesn’t have skin cancer!! Best day ever!
Realising how similar I am to dad.
Bridget Jones’s Diary.

Listening to Jake Bugg and thinking about my brother.
The lorry driver that waved at us. And then waving at all the other big campervans and watching them automatically wave back and then look slightly confused.
Walking up a big hill/small mountain to see the 360° of mountains and clouds and lakes. Absolutely amazing.
And a sneaky fourth little thing for today: driving the big campervan and manoeuvering it backwards into a small camp spot.

We went to a rocky beach with gorgeous pebbles and tons of driftwood.
I touched a jellyfish!
Talking to my brother.

Looking at my thumbs and seeing my brothers thumbs in mine. To me, my brother is perfect and having something that physically connects us makes me feel happy.

A whole night of sewing.

Hearing from my boyfriend.

Seeing old friends I should see more often.

A funny and rude Christmas card at the craft fair.

Getting my free glue gun through the post from my brother and making a cork bowl.
