Telling Adam I didn’t really rate New York as a city. And watching him be outraged.

A bath.

Dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Getting me through the jetlag.

New York Public Library, Grand Central Station, finally finding a pretzel, the beautiful hotel bar full of plants, yoga and the crazy yogi, navigating the subway on my own, the beautiful Muji, the brilliant celebrity cookies and a pizza slice.

Carrie Bradshaw’s house (underwhelming), the Friends apartment (also underwhelming), Ground Zero, taking a ferry to Williamsburg, delicious Mexican food, new rings, a carrot cake doughnut (so delicious), the view from the roof and a really great coffee.

A bagel. Walking over the Brooklyn bridge. The sunny day. Cheesecake with Helen. Discovering Brooklyn. Listening to the voice messages we sent Stuart. Black coconut ash ice-cream and condensed milk. The huge ubers. The feminist shop.

Day one in New York. The Highline, getting into the Whitney and the Guggenheim for free, walking through central park, meeting amazing dogs, cheesecake, seeing lots of American things and going on the subway for the first time. With Holly hustling us on and then immediately off, saying ‘was there a shit in there?!’

Staying up till 5am by mistake, sending Stuart lots of voice messages and talking about sex for an hour in the bathroom before bed.

Wearing a plastic bib and gloves to eat boil in the bag shellfish for dinner.
